Dave Portnoy launched a scathing attack on Ben Stiller on Monday night after the actor opted to skip the New York Knicks’ playoff game and head to the Met Gala.
Stiller, 60, was pictured on the red carpet alongside wife Christine Taylor as they attended the fashion extravaganza at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The ‘Zoolander’ actor opted for a simple look on the night, sporting a sleek navy suit along with an orange tie in homage to his beloved Knicks.
As he walked the red carpet, Stiller made sure to remind reporters that, even though he wasn’t at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks were still at the forefront of his mind.
‘Knicks in six!’, he told the media while holding up the number six with his hands.
Though some fans on social media loved Stiller’s Knicks-inspired look, Barstool boss Portnoy offered a brutal assessment on the actor’s decision to hit the red carpet.
Despite opting for a Knicks-inspired outfit at the 2026 Met Gala, actor Ben Stiller still came under fire for skipping the team’s playoff game to, instead, attend the glitzy fashion event
Barstool Sports boss Dave Portnoy lead the criticism against Stiller online on Monday evening
Taking to X on Monday evening, Portnoy wrote: ‘If Ben Stiller picked the Met Gala over Game 1 of the Knicks game he may have to turn in his man card.’
It’s fair to say that users on social media did not agree with Portnoy’s take and quickly reminded him that his own team, the Celtics, were eliminated from the playoffs.
On X, another fan said: ‘Dave your team is out! You’re not invited to either’.
‘At least Ben Stiller still has plenty of games he can attend while you sit on your couch and cope with your failure of your team being eliminated’, another fan wrote.
Other fans, meanwhile, pointed out the Portnoy skipped the Celtics’ Game 7 defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers due to the fact he attended the Kentucky Derby instead.
The Knicks welcomed the 76ers to Madison Square Garden on Monday evening for the first game of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
New York booked their place in the semifinals after securing a 4-2 series win over the Atlanta Hawks last week.
While Stiller opted to skip Game 1 on Monday, the same could not be said for ‘Marty Supreme’ actor Timothee Chalamet, who was pictured at MSG on Monday evening.
