Beckham feud latest: David speaks out on ‘mistakes’ as fallout to Brooklyn’s statement continues – UK Times

As Brooklyn’s explosive Instagram statement hit our phone screens, his dad David arrived in Davos to pick up an award for his work with children and young people.

Thrust into the spotlight and asked a question about his relationship with his own child, the former England footballer said “you have to let your children make mistakes” while speaking about the power of social media.

“They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids, you sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”

Earlier that month, Beckham and Peltz had been notably absent from David Beckham’s 50th birthday party.

However, sources told People at the time that Beckham and Peltz were not directly invited to the private gathering by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and that the timing of the dinner was “pure coincidence” as the dinner plans were made before David’s birthday celebrations.

Cruz Beckham subtly acknowledged his family’s ongoing drama by liking an Instagram Reel that mocked his brother Brooklyn’s viral claim that their mom, Victoria Beckham, “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola Peltz at their wedding by dancing “inappropriately” on him.

In the Reel, comedian Olly Hume pretended to be the DJ at Brooklyn and Nicola’s 2022 wedding ceremony and reacted with horrified facial expressions.

Cruz has appeared to unlike the post as of Wednesday, but it didn’t stop Instagram users from quickly pointing out his activity in the comments of the post.

“The fact Cruz has liked this,” one fan wrote in the comments, with Hume replying that he “couldn’t believe it.”

“Brooklyn and Nicola are the only ones who have access to video,” a source familiar with the situation told People.

“It’s an extremely embarrassing moment for them and it would not be good for Brooklyn’s mental health to see this circulating online,” the insider added.

“It’s one of the most humiliating moments of his life and he doesn’t want it to be seen by the world.”

Coleen Nolan recalled a fallout with her own family as she weighed in on Brooklyn Beckham’s feud with his parents on her talk show Wednesday.

The Loose Women panellist and singer, 60, has previously spoken about how she did not speak to some of her sisters for several years, and it took the death of their sibling Bernie Nolan for them to reconcile.

When asked if she thinks an apology could help the family heal, Nolan replied: “ I do actually… It’s been well highlighted about me and my sisters back in the day falling out.

“We kind of said sorry that we hadn’t spoken, but then we didn’t say sorry because I thought I was wrong.”

While the Beckham family, all of the Spice Girls and Tom Cruise were at Victoria’s 50th birthday party, her daughter-in-law didn’t make it due to her grandmother’s declining health.

Nicola Peltz later explained on Instagram that she was spending time with her much-loved grandmother, who died a month later.

On the day of the bash, Peltz wrote: “Happy birthday to my beautiful mil @victoriabeckham i’m so sad i’m not there to celebrate you and hug you. Sending all my love from me and my naunni. I miss you all so much!”

Nicola followed it up with another post on Victoria’s actual birthday, writing underneath a photograph of them together, “I love you so much and love being your dance partner forever.”

The day after Brooklyn Beckham shared a statement about his fight with his family on Instagram, his father spoke about the dangers of social media during an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box.

“I’ve always spoken about social media, and the power of social media for the good and for the bad,” David Beckham said.

“We’ve talked about what kids can access these days and it can be dangerous. What I’ve found personally, especially with my kids as well — use it for the right reasons.”

He did not address Brooklyn’s post directly, but said that he attempts to “educate” his children on how to stay safe on the internet.

“They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes,” he said.

“That’s how they learn. That’s what I try to teach my kids, but, you know, you have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well.”

The next time that the Beckham family will all be seen together in public is Cruz’s 21st birthday in February.

According to the Daily Mail, invites have already gone out for the birthday party.
