A BBC Sport presenter has launched a helpline group for ‘DM deviants’ after receiving a series of X-rated messages on social media.

The individual concerned set up a mock help group for her 420,000 followers on Instagram after revealing some of the DMs in her inbox.

After freelancing for Channel 5 and Greater Manchester station Key 103, she went on to appear on MOTDx – which ran for four years between 2019 and 2023.

Now, Emma-Louise Jones has taken to Instagram to post a video where she welcomed viewers to her ‘very first DM helpline help group.’

The group, which was set up in humorous fashion, saw her add that she would be: ‘Introducing you all to the DM Helpline Help group.’

She continued: ‘A weekly session for all our DM deviants. Dave, Ian, Simon…See you next week. *This is not a real help group*.’

The presenter then added a screenshot of a sickening message shehad previously received, which read: ‘Can I lick ur m****’.

Denouncing the contents of the message after she received it, Emma said it was ‘still inappropriate’.

She then proceeded to adopt a more serious tone, in which she warned people about interacting inappropriately on social media compared to doing so in a face-to-face environment.

‘Because we don’t send vulgar messages like this to women on the internet, you wouldn’t say it in real life.’

Emma finished the video by adding: ‘Next week we’re going to discuss why women don’t want to see your penis in their DMs.

‘In the meantime, get yourselves outside, touch some grass and stay off your phones.’

Reacting to the video, users in the comments praised Jones for her handling of a difficult situation.

One user said: ‘Love this, you are a superstar’.

A second added: ‘You’ve got a great way of doing this’.

Another remarked: ‘You should start a profile that outs these people for everyone not just your DMs and people can submit’.

A fourth observed: ‘A very good sketch indeed!’

A further comment read: ‘Brilliant. A very good way to deal with it.’
