Triple Olympic gold medallist Bronte Campbell has opened up about the four eye-catching fashion choices she made at her picturesque wedding to Benfield Lainchbury near Sydney’s Palm Beach recently.
Campbell and business owner Lainchbury met when Bronte’s family moved to Australia from Malawi in 2001.
He played a pivotal part in the swimmer’s decision to return to the pool after an 18-month break following the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
The couple had two celebrations with the first being an intimate ceremony at Palm Beach’s Lilypad, a boat villa that floats on Pittwater Bay.
Only family and the bridal party attended, but the white party occurred a week later at North Bondi Surf Lifesaving Club, where she changed into a swimsuit and glitter mesh dress as she hit the water with her guests.
Now Campbell has gone into her outfit swaps in detail as she explained it took her and her husband more than a year to ‘decide what we actually wanted to do’.

However, she took her fashion choices in a very different direction with a glitter mesh dress over her designer swimsuit when the couple and their guests took a dip in Bondi (pictured)

‘I’ve loved Lola Varma for a while. I fell in love with the Twiggy skirt and I didn’t want a veil so I chose the Sula Shawl,’ she told News Corp when asked about her wedding dress.
‘For the white party, I started in my wedding dress. I then got changed into a yellow Effie Kats mini.
‘For the swim I wore a glitter mesh dress from Modalita Vacanza over my Bondi Born swimmers.
‘Then after the swim I got changed into a gold Shona Joy sequin top and skirt.’
Campbell added that she and Lainchbury hired a band to lead them in a dance party down to the water for their swim at sunset, which led to her favourite moment of the wedding.
‘When Benfield and I were swimming and we had a moment looking back at the beach, all our friends swimming and watching from the balcony of the venue, that was really special,’ she said.
However, not everything with the white party went strictly according to plan.
‘I’d say be a bit more organised than us,’ Campbell said.

Not everything went to plan for the couple as they forgot to take their speech to the white party
Asked to name the most special part of her nuptials, Campbell (pictured) chose looking back at their guests and family as they swam at Bondi
‘For example, the MC normally wants more than an hour’s warning, and we almost missed the start of the white party because we were trying to write our speech that we then forgot to take with us.’
When Campbell first posted pics of her nuptials to Instagram, she wrote, ‘The aisle walk of my dreams. Brought in by boat to my waiting friends, family and husband to be.
‘All of this came together quite last minute. The flowers I ordered the day before, the microphone got left behind, the shoes purchased with two days left. But it came together better than I could have imagined.’
Olympic great Anna Mears reacted to the post by writing: ‘Love this! So real, intimate and beautiful. Congratulations.’
Sports presenter Mel McLaughlin wrote on Campbell’s Instagram: ‘Pure joy. Congrats girlfriend x.’
Fellow swim star Shayna Jack said: ‘Absolutely gorgeous. You are glowing.’
Last July, Campbell revealed she broke the unusual diamond engagement ring she received from Lainchbury, joking that she ‘might need some help wedding planning’ after the distressing incident.
Campbell is a triple Olympic gold medallist and a former World Champion in the 50 and 100m freestyle, having won both titles in 2015.
