- Jason Day wore full grey sweatsuit at Pebble Beach Pro-Am
- Many traditional golf fans were stunned at Aussie’s attire
- Day, 37, was soon criticised by many supporters on X
Aussie golfer Jason Day has been called out for his bold fashion statement at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, with one fan suggesting he should ‘be fined’ for wearing a grey tracksuit.
Day, 37, finished a tie for 13th at the famed course in Northern California – but his colourful attire on the greens was the bigger talking point on Sunday.
Sporting an all-grey get-up with a cursive M on his upper left chest, Day resembled a weekend hacker in many people’s eyes.
The ‘M’ stood for Day’s clothing sponsor Malbon Golf, who pledge to ‘honour the heritage of golf while opening it up to a broader community, blending time-honoured values with a fresh, creative spirit’.
It didn’t long for Day to be savaged by bemused supporters on X.
‘Yeah…..a sweat suit ain’t it boss,’ said one.

Another posted in response: ‘I love Day, but this is crap. He really needs to be fined for this.’
A third weighed in with: ‘At least wear sweatpants that look like golf pants.’
Trevor Immelman, the 2008 Masters champion and CBS commentator, playfully speculated Day must have been wearing the clothes as a last resort.
‘Did he lose his luggage?’ Immelman said.
Day seemingly enjoyed Immelman’s cheeky dig, later posting on Instagram: ‘Lost my luggage.’

It also isn’t the first time Day – and Malbon – have pushed boundaries when it comes to golf etiquette.
At the most recent Masters, Day wore a white sweater vest with black and red lettering with: ‘No.313. Malbon Golf Championship.’
An Augusta National Golf Club official then asked Day – a former world number one – to change out of that sweater – to which he complied.

The Queensland raised father of five has also chalked up runner-up finishes at the Masters (2011), US Open (2011, 2013) and The Open Championship (2023).
