The scramble for a baseball hit into the stands has always been an every-man-for-themselves affair. But one miserable Phillies fan just couldn’t stand losing out on the race.
In a game between Philadelphia and the Miami Marlins, Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader smacked a home run to left field at loanDepot Park.
The ball landed near some Philly fans, in front of a woman who was just a little slow to react.
The woman, the man standing next to her, and two other fans tracking the ball all dove to try and get it. In the end, a man wearing a red Phillies shirt was able to reach down and grab it cleanly.
As he walked off, the woman took a swipe at him and missed as the man got back to his seats and then gave the ball to his son.
But the woman just couldn’t stand coming up short, hopped down to the man’s row, and confronted him. Shocked, the man turned to her in a defensive stance with his hands at his face.

After being berated for beating her fair and square, the man relented and gave her the ball
The woman kept screaming at the man, who tried to explain that he beat her fair and square and that he gave the ball to his son.
She did not relent, continuing to berate the man and his son at their seats while pointing a finger in his face.
Having had enough, the man took the ball away from his son, gave it to the woman and was seen saying ‘bye’. The woman then immediately walked off.
On the Marlins broadcast, the announcers remarked about how ‘weird’ the situation was and said that someone from Miami should deliver another ball to the kid.
Well, that’s exactly what happened. A follow-up video filmed from the row below the fans showed a woman who worked for the team coming over to speak to the kid.
She said that the other fan’s behavior was ‘not okay’ and then revealed she had a gift bag for him.
Inside that bag were a number of other home run balls the team had in storage as well as a jersey and some other goodies.
The person who recorded the video of the Marlins worker delivering the goodie bag said that the woman fan, ‘said the ball landed in her seat [and that] it was hers.’
The witness continued: ‘the dad of the year in question simply responded “you have to catch it to be yours” to which a Karen-esque meltdown ensued.’
When asked about what happened to the fan, the witness said, ‘Lmaoo we boo’d her till her and her completely embarrassed significant other left.’
Meanwhile, Phillies fans were irate at the woman fan’s behavior, with multiple negative reactions on social media.
‘That guy did nothing wrong and should have told that woman to step off,’ said one user on X.
Another wrote, ‘Lady was 5 seconds from asking to talk to a manager. F***ing nonsense he gave that up.’
‘What is wrong with that lady? She is a disgrace,’ another said.
