Can Villa close the gap?

Who thought this would be such a big game, eh?

If you pointed out this fixture to me at the start of the season and said that it could be pivotal in the title race, I may well have scoffed, before giggling a little bit, and saying ‘no way’.

But hey, here we are in January 2026, and Aston Villa’s meeting with Everton at Villa Park is indeed quite the biggie in the scheme of this Premier League season.

With Manchester City desperate not to keep up with Arsenal, it feels like it’s down to Villa to keep what we have left of a title scrap alive this season.

Arsenal dropped points at Nottingham Forest yesterday, so with a win this afternoon, Villa could go within four points of the Gunners. So yeah, it is an important game for them.

But I’ll tell you what, Everton are here to spoil the party.

So, without further ado, I think we should pull the lever on what could be a rollercoaster of an afternoon.
