Gunning for the final four
‘No fear. Pure fire.’
That was the rallying cry from Mikel Arteta yesterday, as he tried to pump up the Arsenal fans ahead of their massive Champions League quarter-final second leg against Sporting CP tonight.
As we well know from the weekend, those famously work…
After beating the Portuguese outfit in dramatic style last week in Lisbon, the Gunners find themselves in pole position to make it through to the semi-finals.
But (and it’s a big BUT), Arteta’s side are in a rancid run of form, having lost three of their last four games, with the first leg the only match in that stretch they haven’t tasted defeat.
Saturday’s loss to Bournemouth came in this very stadium, the Emirates, and the fans were even booing the players come full-time – something I struggle to understand. Tonight, though, Arteta wants them at their very best to will this Gunners side out of their poor form.
It’s a monster night for Arsenal’s season, and I, for one, am itching for it to get going.
So, without further ado, let’s get this party started.
