Gabriel Jesus lashed out at Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera to spark a wild melee after Arsenal dropped yet more points in the Premier League.

In a major twist in this season’s title race, the Gunners fell to a 2-2 draw despite having a two-goal lead at Molineux thanks to a dramatic late strike from Tom Edozie that bounced off Riccardo Calafiori on its way in.

It is the second consecutive Premier League game Mikel Arteta’s men have drawn, meaning Manchester City could go within two points of the pacesetters should they beat Newcastle on Saturday.

With frustrations clearly rife in the Arsenal camp as they tried – and failed – to rescue three points in the dying embers of the game against the league’s basement boys, Jesus hit out at the centre-back.

No sooner had Paul Tierney blown his whistle to signal full-time of the enthralling tie had Mosquera gone down in a heap, sparking a huge scuffle on the Molineux pitch between both sets of players.

Sky Sports’ footage of the incident shows the enraged Arsenal striker approach the Colombian and barge into his chest.

Mosquera then theatrically fell to the ground clutching his head and rolled around on the floor.

Tensions quickly boiled over on the pitch, with Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori and Wolves forward Mateus Mane exchanging words and pushing each other.

Adam Armstrong also made a beeline towards Jesus before members of the Arsenal coaching team separated the pair.

While Wolves’ players checked on Mosquera, who was still holding his head on the floor, staff from both sides ran to the centre of the altercation to break up the brawl.

As the scenes continued on the Molineux pitch, Arsenal’s no 9 – who appeared to receive a booking amid the chaos – was whisked away by a staff member and quickly ushered down the tunnel.

The Gunners had looked comfortable in the tie after Bukayo Saka opened the scoring inside five minutes, before Piero Hincapie doubled their lead.

A win could have taken Arsenal seven points clear of City – who have a game in hand – but the first warning shot of the evening came through Hugo Bueno’s stunning goal in the 61st-minute to reduce the deficit to one.

And in astonishing fashion, Wolves scored a second when David Raya failed to catch a cross into his box despite Gabriel Magalhaes seemingly being in control of heading it away, with Edozie there to smash it in.
