Arsenal have reportedly shown interest in signing Jonathan David, as the Gunners are understood to be eager to enter the competition with West Ham.
Previously, Mikel Arteta’s side were keen to sign a No 9 throughout the January transfer window amid several injuries among their starting lineup.
Arsenal have already targeted RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, but Mail Sport revealed that the Premier League silver medal holders are set to return to negotiations closer to the summer.
Alexander Isak was another man who caught the eyes of the Gunners due to a stunning form during which he scored 19 goals and provided five assists in 24 Premier League appearances this campaign.
However, according to Sky Sports, Arsenal are keen to submit an offer for Lille’s star Jonathan David, whose contract expires at the end of the current season.
The Gunners are reportedly determined to enter fierce competition with Barcelona and West Ham, with the Hammers thought to have already made concrete actions towards the striker’s signature.

At this stage, the North London club is waiting for a new sporting director to take over the role and submit a proposal in the upcoming weeks.
It has been reported that former Atletico Madrid director Andrea Berta is viewed as Arsenal’s frontrunner to replace Edu, who left last November, among four other candidates, such as Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro, ex-Manchester United specialist Dan Ashworth, Sociedad’s Roberto Oblabe and current interim Jason Ayto.
However, it is understood that David remains interested in a transfer to Barcelona, as the LaLiga giants are looking to bolster their attacking line by adding a young player.
Currently, the Catalans’ striker remains Robert Lewandowski, who will turn 37 at the start of the next season.
David has recommended himself as a top striker throughout his past campaigns in Ligue 1, scoring 105 goals in 220 appearances for Lille since his transfer in 2020.
The 25-year-old Canada international found the net eight times in 12 Champions League games this season, while Lille are still fighting to advance further in the play-off stages.
On Tuesday night, Les Dogues are set to face Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park in the first leg of the round of 16.
