About 740,000 sets of kitchen pans sold at Costco, Walmart and Amazon have been recalled over concerns of consumers getting burned by the product.

The Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue stainless steel sauté pans were recalled Thursday.

When announcing the recall, the Consumer Product Safety Commission warned that the metal cap on the screw that connects the pan to the handle can detach and “forcefully eject” when heated. The commission said this can cause burns to the consumer.

New York-based E Mishan & Sons, Inc., which imports the pans, has received nearly 100 reports of the cap becoming detached and ejecting from the pan. One of those incidents resulted in the consumer suffering from bruising and burn injuries.

The recalled pans came in a two-piece set with a 10-inch pan and an 11.5-inch pan. They were sold at Costco stores and online, including on the Costco, Walmart and Amazon websites from August 2021 to last February.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission advises consumers with the recalled pans to stop using them immediately and return them for a full refund.

Consumers should also look out for a power strip that was recently recalled due to the risk of burns.

The CCCEI Power Strips sold on Amazon were recalled last week after the company behind the recall, China-based retailer Middle Way Electronics, received at least two reports of the product “sparking and melting,” according to the commission’s recall notice.

As of the recall date, no fires or injuries were reported. But the commission warned that the power strips do not contain “supplementary overcurrent protection,” which can cause the product to catch fire if overloaded.

“The resulting fire can cause serious injury or death from smoke inhalation and burns,” the commission said.

The recall notice advised consumers to immediately stop using the power strips and contact Middle Way Electronics for a full refund.
