Though Jurgen Klopp will be at Anfield on Sunday to witness Liverpool’s Premier League trophy lift, it’s the original ‘Boss’ who is inspiring Arne Slot to more glory.

Slot was in the audience to see 75-year-old rock star Bruce Springsteen – aka The Boss – perform for three hours at a concert in Manchester, showing the relentlessness he thinks The Reds will need next season to try and regain their title.

‘Talk about people having good habits, I have heard what Springsteen does in his daily life for what he does. I know how disciplined he is,’ said the admiring Liverpool boss.

‘I liked to watch the joy he gave his fans. What I recognised is that people are as passionate about Bruce Springsteen as our fans are about Liverpool. That is a great comparison.

‘At his age, he is still about to do three hours on stage without even one minute of rest, He only took three or four drinks of water.

‘It is unbelievable, his mentality.’

After three games without a win since being crowned champions, Slot will want to mark being presented with the trophy by beating FA Cup winners Crystal Palace.

He will be checking when the team returns to pre-season training on July 8 whether he can sense the hunger in his players to try and become back-to-back champions for the first time since 1984.

‘I think one of the reasons why you play at a club like Liverpool is because you have elite mentality and the mentality of a serial winner,’ he said.

‘Even the Michael Jordans of this world have lost championships as well but they’ve won a lot because of this mentality and quality.’

It will be a farewell to Anfield for Trent Alexander-Arnold who was booed by The Kop after announcing he was leaving in the summer with Real Madrid the almost certain destination.

Slot raised eyebrows by revealing on Friday he’d demanded more from the England defender in training when he arrived last summer and to show off his defensive side.

‘I know how to with people and with players. It’s not like I only tell them ‘You need to do this’ – I also give compliments!’ added the Liverpool boss.

‘I am a true believer if you create habits every day, you have the biggest chance of achieving something. The superstars want to hear demands being put on them because they want to improve.’
