Angel Reese offered a very curt response to a Caitlin Clark question on Monday as the Chicago Sky held their media day.
A year ago, as both Reese and Clark were entering the WNBA as rookies, the former LSU star condemned the notion that Clark was the only one driving eyeballs towards the league.
‘I’ll look back in 20 years and be like, the reason why we’re watching women’s basketball is not just because of one person,’ she said. ‘It’s because of me, too. I want ya’ll to realize that.’
And this week, a reporter was quickly shut down by Reese when he attempted to ask her about those remarks, and if they still held up.
After paraphrasing Reese’s remarks, the reporter said: ‘A year later, do you feel like you’re…’ before he was cut off.
‘Next question,’ Reese said.
A Sky employee than echoed that sentiment, saying: ‘Yeah, we’ll move on. Thank you.’
The pair, who both made the WNBA All-Star team at the first opportunities, have been pitted against one another since their LSU and Iowa team’s faced off in the 2023 national championship.
Then, as the clock wound down on a blowout LSU win, Reese infamously taunted Clark as she pointed to her ring finger while standing right in front of the sharpshooter.
Clark later got the better of Reese and her Lady Tigers teammates when Iowa beat them the following year in the Elite Eight, with Clark scoring 41 points.
The pair remained entangled to some degree once they made the jump to the pros, as Reese cheered when her Sky teammate, Chennedy Carter, bodychecked Clark to the floor.
