American tennis player Sebastian Korda was taken aback when a reporter accidentally asked him an awkward question after his win over Flavio Cobolli on Saturday.

Korda was giving an interview on the court to Michelle Yu after his impressive 7-6, 6-1 semifinal win at the Delray Beach Open against his Italian rival on Saturday.

It marked three wins from three for Korda against Cobolli but Yu had an unfortunate slip of the tongue when she tried to find out the secret behind his success.

‘You’ve played Flavio three times and you’ve had sex—success all three times. Why is it?’ Yu said, trying to stifle her laughter and complete the question.

Korda also saw the funny side, and replied to Yu: ‘He’s a good looking guy, so you know…’

Inevitably, the clip went viral on social media but with people focusing more on Korda’s amusing reply than Yu’s slip-up.

Sebastian Korda couldn’t hide his laughter after a reporter’s unfortunate slip-up

One fan responded to the clip: ‘So funny. They both handled it well. Actually made me like Korda for the first time. Showed some personality!’

Another commented: ‘Dang, gotta admit Seb has game. That was some quick recovery.’

A different fan wrote: ‘I had to rewind to make sure I heard that correctly! Nice recovery Seb!! He carried on like a champ and didn’t embarrass her.’

And maybe the incident left some good karma on Korda’s side, too.

The following day, he recorded an impressive 6-4, 6-4 win over American counterpart Tommy Paul in the final to win the tournament.

Korda handled some windy conditions best in Florida to emerge victorious. It was his first trophy since 2024 Washington, an ATP 500 event.

‘We were both struggling out there, it was super windy,’ Korda said after the match.

‘I was just trying to put the ball in the court. I was born and raised in Florida, so I’m used to the wind a little bit, but this was extreme for sure.’
