NFL sideline reporter Amanda Balionis has revealed she is battling a worrying issue with her spine which has left her in need of a ‘Hail Mary’ to stop the pain.
Balionis, who has covered a variety of sports with CBS over the past decade, is part of the network’s team for the 2025 NFL season, with her first assignment coming when the Baltimore Ravens host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
A few days out from that game, the 39-year-old shared a concerning health update on Instagram after explaining that she is suffering from a pinched nerve in the neck – which is caused by a vertebra or disc in the upper part of the spine [C4/C5 level] squeezing a nerve.
The pain from the top of her spine has since moved down into her shoulder blade, coming as a major worry ahead of her hectic start to NFL duties across the country.
Along with a selfie of herself, Balionis wrote on Instagram Wednesday: ‘Pinched nerve update: -already feeling relief from [chiropractor appointment] this morning. -pain is actually stemming from my C4/C5 and going down into my shoulder blade -I’m stopping the heat therapy, sticking to ice and advil -[acupuncture appointment] tonight for a final Hail Mary before a crazy few weeks of travel’.

She then added: ‘Thanks for all of your tips and suggestions! Hugs to everyone who shared they are struggling with similar pain. It is NOT fun’.
Balionis has recently been enjoying some downtime in Ibiza alongside friends she met all the way back in elementary school after signing off from 19 weeks on the road with CBS Sports’ golf coverage.
The reporter posted a selection of photos from her vacation, including one of her wearing a white bikini while enjoying a drink.
Balionis has established herself as one of the most prominent and recognizable golf interviewers on the circuit during her stint with CBS.
She has also covered football on the network for eight years, and it was confirmed last month that she would be part of the NFL lineup for the upcoming season.
Balionis will report from a selection of games as part of a team that also includes legendary announcer Jim Nantz.
