An air ambulance has landed in a city centre as paramedics rushed to the scene of a stabbing.
The helicopter set down at Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester after a man was injured on Oldham Street at about 14:15 BST, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
A 31-year-old man has been taken to hospital for treatment. No arrests have yet been made.
Detectives have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as they try to “build a full timeline of events”.
North West Ambulance Service said it had “responded to a police incident” and “a patient has been taken to hospital for further treatment”.
A spokeswoman for North West Air Ambulance said: “We can confirm that the North West Air Ambulance Charity was called to an incident in Manchester.
“Helimed 72 responded.”
GMP said neighbourhood police officers were conducting additional patrols in the area to reassure local residents and those passing through the city centre.
