  • Matilda Scholz quickly put two trolls in their place online
  • Followed immature response to her recent TikTok clip
  • Made her AFLW debut for Port Adelaide as a teenager

AFLW rising star Matilda Scholz has left a couple of trolls red-faced on TikTok after they responded with misogynistic comments in one of her recent clips.

The Port Adelaide ruck, 20, posted a fun dancing video on July 17 which also featured her Power teammates Ella Heads and Alissa Brook.

Predictably, it didn’t take long for some negative comments to be posted online.

‘But can you kick a footy 30 meters (sic),’ asked one male footy fan.

‘Competition (AFLW) is a joke that loses millions…and these girls think let’s dance,’ said another.

Scholz, who Port Adelaide’s Best and Fairest player last year, didn’t hold back, responding ‘we can, can you,’ in relation to the kicking insult, before clapping back at the other troll.

She offered a blunt: ‘You don’t have to watch, u can just scroll.’

A profile interview on the AFLW site last August offered further insight into Scholz’ bubbly personality.

She revealed her greatest fear is the ‘whole world being AI or robots’ where she is the last remaining person on Earth, her love of a chicken ‘parmy’ as well as a desire to come back and live as a dolphin if reincarnation exists.

Meanwhile, the AFL is said to be exploring the prospect of building an AFLW specific boutique stadium in Melbourne as it works to consolidate the number of venues used in the competition.

With the code focused on harnessing the unique crowd that the AFLW attracts, a purpose-built venue with a capacity of roughly 15,000 is under consideration as it focuses on growing attendances.

Long term, the code wants to see four dedicated AFLW venues across Victoria.

The 2025 AFLW season starts on August 14 when Carlton tackle Collingwood at IKON Park.

Bookmakers have North Melbourne ($3) as early premiership favourites ahead of the Adelaide Crows ($6) and Brisbane Lions ($6).
