Aaron Ramsey has provided an update on the status of his dog Halo after the pooch went missing earlier this month.

Ramsey, who now plays for Pumas UNAM in Mexico, revealed the extremely sad news on social media and asked the public for help.

He has continued to share posts about Halo, who went missing in the city of San Miguel de Allende – and offered a $10,000 (£7,515) reward for useful information or the dog’s return.

Unfortunately, Halo is yet to be found and on Friday night, Ramsey put a black-and-white photo on Instagram of his canine companion and added the caption: ‘What I’d do to hold you one last time Halo.’

The Welsh legend, 34, also put the post on his story and heartbreakingly added three white hearts.

Ramsey has been raising awareness of Halo’s plight on social media and in the streets ever since his disappearance, with volunteers even carrying placards about the situation in public.

When sharing the sad news earlier this month, Ramsey had said: ‘Please help us find Halo, he was lost in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, in the vicinity of Hipsterrier which is a dog shelter.

‘A reward is being offered. Any information is valuable. HELP US GET HIM BACK TO HIS FAMILY.’

Fans piled in with supportive messages in the comments section of Ramsey’s latest post and his wife Colleen has also been asking for help on social media.

Halo is part of a family which also includes Ramsey’s sons – standalone boy Sonny and twins Tomas and Teddy.

Elsewhere, Pumas have made a mixed start to the season since Ramsey joined, sitting 12th out of 18 teams in Mexican top flight.

Signing in July, Ramsey had opened up on his reasons for moving to Central America and said: ‘I’ve played with some players who understand the Mexican league and had conversations in the past with them. This league is very technical, great players have been produced, the national team is very good.

‘I’ve had pressure throughout my career, played for some of the best teams in the world and there’s an expectation to win and I’m sure here is no different.

‘I’m really excited by the challenge. I’ve experienced a lot of things in my career and that puts me in a good place going forward.

‘I realise the expectation on this club and I’m here to play my part and help deliver the things we want to this season.’

He continued: ‘I’ve spent a period of time in my career without winning things but managed to overcome that and win, so I know what this club is capable of doing and hopefully I can play my part to be successful and lift some silverware.

‘The altitude is definitely something to get used to! I’m doing well at the moment. Now it’s about taking the next steps and hopefully I’ll be on that pitch as soon as possible helping my team-mates.’

Ramsey is on a one-year deal in Mexico. He left Cardiff at the end of last season and previously played for Arsenal, Juventus, and Nice.
