The 2026 WNBA All-Star Game delivered plenty of highlight-reel moments – but one of the evening’s most viral exchanges came at the expense of Angel Reese.
During a sequence midway through the exhibition game at the United Center in Chicago, Reese – playing for Team Coop – was given a free run at a lay-up.
However, the Chicago Sky forward blew the opportunity after getting denied by four-time MVP A’ja Wilson – despite the latter trying to get out of the way.
Afterwards, Wilson admitted that she had tried to give Reese the opportunity to score but still, somehow, managed to block it.
After the game, she said: ‘I was trying to get out of the way. I do not like to block shots during All-Star games. I’ve never had that happen to me, and I’m so sorry’.
Despite her post-game comments, the miss prompted an immediate reaction from rival Wilson, who couldn’t hold back her laughter right on the court.

The viral moment instantly blew up across social media, with fans and broadcast commentators poking fun at the bizarre blunder from the Atlanta Dream forward.
Taking to X, one fan wrote: ‘I’m honestly over Angel Reese. She’s popular, but real sports fans know she is not very good.’
‘Haha wow. Got blocked in an all star game without Wilson even trying,’ another said.
One fan said: ‘A’ja really blocked Angel without even meaning to, I’m cryinggg’.
The lighthearted mocking added fuel to the competitive spirit of the night, as the league’s biggest names put on a show for the Chicago crowd.
On the scoreboard, it was Caitlin Clark who got the last laugh, helping captain Team Spoon to a 129-122 victory in the offensive showcase.
Clark set the tempo right from the opening tip, scoring the first bucket of the night on a breakaway layup before sinking three quick triples to stack up 11 points in the opening minutes.
The Indiana Fever guard finished the evening with 17 points, four rebounds, and five assists as Team Spoon controlled the pace for much of the contest.

While Clark ignited the offense early, it was New York Liberty star Jonquel Jones who took home All-Star Game MVP honors after putting up a dominant 22 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists.
Team Coop kept the pressure on behind a 28-point performance from Kelsey Mitchell and a blistering 23-point effort from former Sky fan-favorite Marina Mabrey, but Team Spoon pulled away in the fourth quarter as the defense finally ramped up.
Seattle Storm forward Dominique Malonga also brought the United Center crowd to its feet in the second quarter, throwing down a roaring dunk to highlight an unforgettable night in Chicago.
With the All-Star festivities officially wrapped up in Chicago, both Clark and Reese will turn their focus back to the second half of the season as playoff races heat up.
