Socceroos star Cristian Volpato has allegedly returned a positive roadside drug test for cocaine.
The 22-year-old became one of Australia’s most popular athletes during the Socceroos’ World Cup run to the Round of 32.
He’s now also alleged to have been caught speeding twice on Sydney’s Anzac Bridge in the space of two hours.
At about 11.05pm on Thursday July 23, police officers stopped Volpato, driving his BMW Coupe, allegedly travelling at least 25km/h over the 60km/h speed limit.
He returned a negative breath test, before being issued an infringement notice for allegedly exceeding the speed limit by more than 20km/h.
Just over two hours later, police allegedly stopped Volpato again.

They did so after he was allegedly travelling at 109km/h in the same 60km/h zone.
Officers then subjected the Socceroos star to a roadside drug test, which police allege returned a positive result for cocaine.
Volpato has since been issued another infringement notice for allegedly exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.
His international driver’s licence has also been suspended for six months.
‘Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers will continue to target dangerous driving behaviour, including excessive speeding, to keep NSW roads safe,’ NSW Police told The Daily Mail in a statement.
‘Drivers are reminded that speeding and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol can have devastating consequences for themselves and other road users.’
