When LeBron James and Tyrese Haliburton made an appearance together at Fanatics Fest to record a podcast episode, James’ next free agency destination was atop everyone’s mind. Including Haliburton’s.
Last week, the two taped a live show of the ‘Mind The Game’ podcast in front of an audience at the sports convention in New York City.
But right before the pair put on a show, Haliburton tried to use the opportunity to do some convincing. It did not work.
On Monday’s episode of ESPN’s ‘The Pat McAfee Show,’ the Indiana Pacers guard revealed that he and James had a quick chat before the appearance.
However, Haliburton was unsuccessful in his attempt to lure James to join him in Indiana.
‘I texted him before Fanatics Fest, and I said, “Hey, you should come be a Pacer,”‘ Haliburton revealed.

‘And he responded with six laughing cry faces.’
Haliburton added, ‘I thought it was two, I said during our interview that it was two, then I went back and looked at the text. It was six. … Yeah, it hurt.’
During the show, a packed audience watching on clamored for James to ‘pick a team’ to play for. But ‘King James’ never hinted at his favorite team.
‘It’s going to be fun wherever I land,’ James replied.
James was asked by an 11-year-old about his free agency and developing his next team, to which the ‘King’ gave him props for ‘a hell of a question’.
When Haliburton tried to convince James before the show, LeBron sent laughing emojis back
‘It’s a big decision for not only myself, but for my family as well,’ James said. ‘Just for the last part of my career and where I want to spend the last few years or the last year or the last two years of my NBA career.’
James added, ‘I’m going to try to fit into whatever team I’m going into, but also give them all the tools and give them all the knowledge that I’ve been able to grasp over the last 23 years. I know the game. I know the ins and outs of the game of basketball.’
During the appearance, James referenced many teams he’s been connected with – including Cleveland, Miami, Philadelphia and Golden State – but did not hint to which one was his preferred spot.
