A young girl was airlifted to safety from severe floods that have ravaged central Texas, killing at least two people.
Heavy downpours across the Texas Hill Country have turned rivers into raging, life-threatening surges, with emergency services urging people to move to higher ground after the torrents have washed out hundreds of roads.
Footage shared by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s office on Thursday (16 July) shows a rescuer descending to the flooded property and placing a vest on the girl before airlifting her to safety.
The rest of her family and two dogs were rescued by another helicopter.
The flooding has hit the same area that saw more than 130 deaths in flash floods last summer.
