The TRA completed 22 cases in the year, a 47% increase on the previous year, and submitted 15 recommendations to the Secretary of State. By 31 March 2026, 46 trade remedy measures were in place, covering around £20.6 billion of UK imports and protecting key sectors including steel, aluminium, ceramics and chemicals.

In July 2025, the TRA launched its Trade Remedies Advisory Service, expanding the support available to businesses looking to engage with the UK trade remedies system.

The TRA achieved 8 out of 11 key performance indicators, with the remaining three  close to being achieved. The TRA considers this balance consistent with genuinely stretching targets across its previous four strategic goals cases, people, digital and data, and reputation.

Stakeholder confidence in the TRA’s fairness and rigour also rose, with 88% of stakeholders surveyed saying they believe the TRA conducts fair, impartial and rigorous investigations. The TRA made significant strides in delivering investigations faster in 2025-26, with timeliness of final determinations improving by 50% year on year as part of a sustained drive to provide earlier protection for UK businesses.

The TRA also published its new TRA Plan 2026–29 in April 2026, setting out its vision and strategic objectives for the next phase of its work, focused on being more agile, accessible, assertive and accountable.

Nick Baird, Chair of the Trade Remedies Authority, said

This has been a significant year for the TRA. Our team has delivered more recommendations than ever before while navigating a more complex and demanding global trading environment. I’m proud of what the organisation has achieved and confident we have the right foundations in place to build on this progress

Jessica Blakely and Carmen Suarez, Chief Executives of the Trade Remedies Authority, said

2025 to 2026  was our busiest year to date, and we’re pleased to have delivered real results for UK businesses. From launching our new Advisory Service to support businesses, in particular SMEs, to improving the pace of our investigations, we’ve worked hard to make the trade remedies system more accessible and effective. We’re now focused on the next phase of driving further efficiencies and delivering greater impact for the UK economy.
