A man has been charged with murdering a man in an attack at a karaoke bar

Shane Cullen, 31, died at Blues bar in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, in the early hours of Saturday.

Carl Cooper, 36, of Smallshaw Lane in the town, has been charged with murder, assault and two counts of common assault, Greater Manchester Police said.

He was due to appear before Tameside Magistrates later on Tuesday.

Cullen was found with serious injuries and pronounced dead at the scene.

A tribute from his mother described him as “a big, gentle giant who wouldn’t hurt anyone”.
