The fight to reach the World Cup semi-finals continues.
France got the job done yesterday as expected, and now it’s time to see who will meet them in the last four. Will it be Spain or Belgium?
The European champions take on the resurgent Red Devils here in Los Angeles this afternoon for what is set to be a blockbuster clash of the titans. Well, it would have been a few years ago, but maybe not now.
Spain are clearly the favourites after their revival in recent years, which has taken them right to the top of the international game. Belgium, however, are much more of a fallen giant whose best years are behind them.
Yes, I know Rudi Garcia’s side have started to have a resurgence at this tournament, but that doesn’t mean they are at the level of this Spanish side. Still, they do have the tools to at least hurt them.
After all, this is the World Cup, and anything can happen.
So, rather than me dragging this introduction on for too long, I think we should get this build-up going. Let’s go!
