Andy Burnham has garnered significant support for the Labour leadership, with 322 MPs, including several senior Cabinet ministers, putting his name forward.

Among those backing Mr Burnham are Chancellor Rachel Reeves, Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, and Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.

In total, 18 members of Sir Keir Starmer’s Cabinet have publicly endorsed his bid, including Energy and Net Zero Secretary Ed Miliband, Chief Whip Jonathan Reynolds, and the staunchly loyal Chief Secretary Darren Jones.

Further high-profile nominations include Angela Rayner and current deputy leader Lucy Powell.
