In bygone years, Morocco knocking out the Netherlands would have been considered an upset worthy of grabbing the headlines.
But not anymore, for this Morocco team is one which, in many people’s eyes, could be dark horses for the entire tournament.
It was back in 2022 that they made their name on that run to the semi-final, before eventually being beaten by the French.
And since then, the Moroccans have built quite the team. A full-back pairing of Noussair Mazaraoui and Achraf Hakimi is nothing if not reliable, Ayyoub Bouaddi is one the upcoming talents of the tournament and Ismael Saibari, their striker, has just been snapped up by Bayern Munich.
Should the Moroccans win this evening, they will likely setup a repeat of that clash with France in the quarter-finals.
And if that match materialises, it will not be a game to miss.
