Comedian Alex ‘Shooter’ Williamson has sparked fresh outrage after posting an AI-generated image mocking immigration and the Socceroos, months after being condemned over a vile joke about Kumanjayi Little Baby.

Williamson, who describes himself online as ‘Australia’s Loosest Bloke’, posted the image to both Facebook and Instagram following the Socceroos’ run to the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup.

The AI-generated image depicts Williamson steering a small, battered boat carrying several young footballers wearing Australian-style gold jerseys towards an Australian beach.

Waiting on shore are cheering supporters waving Australian flags beneath a banner reading ‘Welcome our future Socceroos’, while an Australian Border Force patrol vessel sits offshore.

Williamson captioned the post: ‘Smuggling next gen of Socceroos into [Australia] on a shanty boat. #fifa #worldcup #australia.’

The post quickly attracted criticism from social media users, with many accusing the comedian of making an offensive joke about migrants and Australia’s diverse national football team.

One follower wrote: ‘Get off ChatGPT … This isn’t funny.’

Another commented: ‘So offensive. All the Socceroos came here legally.’

A third dismissed Williamson as an ‘Attention seeking cooker.’

Williamson has been contacted for comment.

The latest backlash comes just weeks after Williamson was widely criticised over a since-deleted TikTok video in which he joked about the alleged murder of five-year-old Warlpiri girl Kumanjayi Little Baby.

In that video, Williamson referred to the man accused of the girl’s murder before acting out a fictional phone conversation and making a series of remarks that prompted widespread condemnation.

The video was removed after attracting significant backlash online, but copies later resurfaced on social media.

The controversy also cost Williamson his place at the Willunga Football Club, which announced he had been stood down immediately before later confirming he was no longer registered with the club.

In a public statement at the time, the club said: ‘We want to be clear: the comments made are completely unacceptable and do not reflect the values of our club.

‘We acknowledge the hurt and distress this has caused, particularly to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader community.

‘The individual was stood down immediately, and following review, is no longer registered with the club. This outcome reflects the seriousness with which we have treated the matter.’

Williamson was once one of Australia’s most popular online comedians, building a substantial following through viral videos and national comedy tours.

Williamson was once among Australia’s biggest online comedy stars, building a loyal following through viral videos, sold-out national tours and his ‘Shooter’ persona.

Before his downfall, his primary Instagram account had amassed 496,000 followers, helping establish him as one of the country’s most recognisable internet comedians.

His career unravelled in 2021 after his former partner, musician Peach PRC, made allegations about his behaviour, which Williamson denied.

His response triggered widespread backlash, leading to his management company, More Talent, terminating its relationship with him and both the Sydney and Perth Comedy Festivals removing him from their line-ups.

Williamson has since continued performing independently and rebuilt an audience on social media, where his current Instagram account has more than 81,000 followers.

However, his online presence has remained overshadowed by repeated controversies, including confrontations during live shows and a string of provocative social media posts.
