U.S. track icon Alvin Harrison has been arrested for driving under the influence following a late-night traffic stop in Los Angeles.

According to a report from TMZ, Burbank Police Department officers pulled over the 52-year-old former Olympic sprinter shortly before 11 PM on Monday night.

Authorities initiated the traffic stop after observing Harrison’s vehicle rolling straight through a designated stop sign.

During the interaction, roadside officers noted clear signs of impairment and subsequently took the former athlete into custody for a DUI.

A standard background check conducted by officers at the scene revealed that Harrison was also carrying three outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

The legendary track star was immediately transported to a local jail facility following his arrest on the scene.

Harrison has remained held behind bars without bail over the last four days as a result of the outstanding warrants.

Back in his competitive prime, Harrison was one of the world’s most elite and formidable 400-meter sprinters on the international stage.

The California native initially made a massive name for himself at high school level, starring for the powerhouse track program at Salinas High School.

He famously secured an Olympic gold medal as a crucial member of the dominant U.S. 4×400-meter relay team at the 1996 Atlanta Games.

The star runner followed up that home-turf success by capturing an individual silver medal in the 400-meter event at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Harrison also made history alongside his twin brother, Calvin Harrison, as the first twins to ever win gold together on the same Olympic relay team.

The legendary sprinter was later named to the athletic Hall of Fame at Hartnell College, cementing his status as a true track and field icon.

According to local jail and court records obtained by TMZ Sports, Harrison is officially scheduled to appear before a judge in mid-July.
