Geelong forward Tyson Stengle has been blasted for missing a flight to a match after being spotted partying at a nightclub.

The embattled star was scheduled to travel with the Cats’ VFL side to play against Southport in Queensland on Saturday – but was a no-show at the airport, with staff forced to page him over the loudspeakers.

The stumble came 36 hours after the 27-year-old attended the Electric Nightclub in Geelong, eyewitnesses told Channel Seven.

Stengle hasn’t played for the Cats’ AFL side this year after the club granted him leave due to personal issues.

He was also rushed to hospital in July 2024 after reportedly being found unresponsive at Bloom Nightclub in Geelong.

The latest incident has raised further concerns about his future at the club.

‘To be out in such a public place, 36 hours before the time he’s supposed to be on a flight… and then to miss the flight, after everything that Geelong has done for him …   is a major slap in the face from him to them,’ Kane Cornes told Seven’s The Agenda Setters.

‘We know he’s got trouble. We don’t even have to say that. We know that. We know there’s personal issues.

‘We know the reasons behind that. But this is a bad blow, and one that I don’t think he comes back from.’

Stengle arrived at the Cats in 2022 after he was sacked by his former club the Adelaide Crows.

The club parted ways with the small forward after he was stood down after police caught him with an illicit substance, and he was charged with drink driving in a separate incident.

The forward had also been suspended for four games on two separate occasions.

Stengle has played 109 games in his AFL career, kicking 175 goals so far.
