Bukayo Saka is unlikely to be ready to start England’s next game against Ghana, while Marcus Rashford is also managing a niggle.

Rashford came from the bench during Wednesday’s 4-2 win over Croatia and impressed when scoring his side’s final goal.

However, we understand he felt something in his glute area and he did not feature when England beat Sporting Kansas City 5-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Thursday.

The issue is not thought to be serious but it could mean that Anthony Gordon continues on the left wing in Boston on Tuesday.

Thomas Tuchel also likes to have players like Rashford to impact from the bench, and rather than listen to any clamour for him to start, the head coach will see the value in his quality against tired legs.

Harry Kane left the AT&T Stadium with strapping on his left calf, but we have been told that was related to cramp. He will be fine for the second group fixture.

Marcus Rashford is not set to start England’s clash with Ghana as he continues to work towards full fitness

Meanwhile, Tuchel is set to keep Saka in reserve until the final group match at the earliest. He assisted Rashford’s goal in Dallas but was also absent from the training-ground game the following day.

Saka is still building fitness on the back of an Achilles complaint and Noni Madueke is in line to keep his place on the right wing.

Ivan Toney scored another hat-trick against Sporting KC, on the back of his treble versus Miami FC a week earlier. Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins were the others on target.

Marc Guehi also played and he is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up after Tuchel went with Ezri Konsa and John Stones at centre back versus Croatia.
