West Coast Eagles forward Malakai Champion has been referred to the tribunal after allegedly blowing his nose on an opponent during a WAFL match.

The alleged incident took place during the second quarter of the Eagles’ win over Swan Districts last Saturday.

Champion had been demoted to the club’s reserves side in an effort to regain form following a string of sub-par performances.

The 20-year-old is alleged to have performed a ‘bushman’s blow’ onto the jumper of an opponent.

Champion allegedly blocked one nostril and ejected mucus from the other.

West Coast refused to comment because the matter is yet to be heard by the WAFL tribunal.

The incident is not the first involving bodily fluids during the AFL season.

Earlier this year, the AFL tribunal sanctioned North Melbourne Kangaroos star Tristan Xerri for smearing his blood on the face of Essendon captain Andrew McGrath.

Champion has played 10 AFL matches to date, with eight appearances coming during the 2026 season.

He made his debut in 2025 and has kicked four goals across his AFL career.
