James Barker, an executive producer for “Love Island USA,” died at age 40 in Fiji last week due to an unexpected medical emergency while on-site for the show’s production.

ITV America and Peacock confirmed his death, expressing profound sadness over the loss of a beloved and valued member of their team, noting his kindness, talent, and dedication.

Tuesday’s episode of “Love Island USA” season eight will be dedicated to honoring Barker’s memory.

Barker started on “Love Island USA” in 2020 as a story producer and rose to executive producer for the past three seasons, also overseeing the series’ soundtrack.

His extensive television career included producing roles on shows like “Counting Cars,” “Forged in Fire,” “Pawn Stars,” and “Queer Eye,” and he was also a passionate DJ.
