“A few races, he changed form the Brembo brakes to the carbon industry brakes at Mercedes – that coincides with his change; he feels the car better.

Leclerc has now followed him as he’s been struggling with his brakes. Lewis had an incredible lap – on race pace, we know he’s a little a tenth off the Mercedes; he’s a definite candidate for the big win.

Not a huge surprise that Alonso – who qualified last – will start in the pit-lane after taking some new power unit parts.

A horrendous final Barcelona weekend so far for the veteran..

“Ferrari have done a very good job with their updates, Lewis clearly likes the 2026 cars – the whole paddock are very impressed with Ferrari.

“Ferrari feel that with Leiws up there that they can hold on to Mercedes.”

“It’s hot! I feel good. I’ve been here a long time but this never gets old, the amazing crowd, doesn’t matter which driver they’re supporting – it’s great energy.

On whether turn 1 is his best chance for the lead: “I don’t know if it’s the best one, it’s one of the strong ones.

“It’s been a little bit of a difficult weekend so far, didn’t have the feeling with the car. Long run was strong yesterday; today I’ve been lacking a little bit – looking forward to tomorrow.

It’s the first time this season that Antonelli will not start a grand prix on the front-row.
