The UFC’s custom outfits for the ring girls who will be on duty at UFC Freedom 250 – at the White House on Sunday – have been met with fierce fan criticism online.
The historic fight night, which will take place on Donald Trump’s 80th birthday on the South Lawn, suffered its latest setback after revealing the custom outfits.
Typically, ring girls – or ‘Octagon girls’ as the UFC calls them – would wear basic red or black outfits when on duty, but the organization opted for a change this weekend.
Instead, the girls will be wearing red, white and blue costumes. The new design pays homage to the American flag, as part of the Semiquincentennial celebrations.
While some fans raved over the new look, the majority were unconvinced.
After pictures of the Octagon girls went viral on X, one fan wrote: ‘This is so tacky’.

‘I hate this sooo bad,’ another fan wrote, adding a smiling-but-crying emoji.
Meanwhile, one disgruntled fan said: ‘Perfectly tacky and on brand’.
‘This is all one big humiliation fest,’ another added.
Others, meanwhile, said that the ring girls looked like ‘Wonder Woman’, as others insisted that the UFC had gone ‘overly patriotic’ when designing the outfits.
In pictures released by the UFC, ring girls Chrissy Blair and Red Dela Cruz modeled the new outfits, showing off the patriotic look, less than one week out from the event.
In one of the images, Blair is seen wearing a striped patterned skirt, while Dela Cruz stands beside her in a short dress which boasted themes of the American flag.
The outfits will be worn by the girls during the ceremonial weigh-ins and on fight night on the White House South Lawn.
When releasing the outfits, the UFC said: ‘The inspiration behind the designs were born from the intersection of sport, spectacle, and celebration.

The brutal assessment of the outfits comes just days after it was revealed that a number of A-listers had turned down the opportunity to attend Sunday’s event.
