Parris Campbell is retiring from the NFL at the tender age of 28, the Dallas Cowboys have revealed.
The wide receiver, who won the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2024 season, has been placed on the reserve/retired list by the Cowboys ahead of the 2026 campaign.
Campbell enjoyed a stellar college career for Ohio State, winning the College Football Playoff national championship in 2015 and earning First Team All-Big Ten honors when he registered 90 catches for 1,063 yards and a conference-leading 12 touchdowns three years later.
Yet after he was selected in the second round of the 2019 Draft by the Indianapolis Colts, the Ohio native’s first three seasons in the big leagues were marred by multiple injuries, including a torn MCL and PCL early in the 2020 campaign.
He was limited to just 15 appearances across his first three years in the NFL, before playing in all 17 games for the Colts in 2022 while making 63 receptions for 623 yards and three touchdowns.

Campbell put pen to paper on a one-year, $4.7million contract with the New York Giants in 2023 but only had 20 catches for 104 yards in three starts and 12 appearances for the team.
He then signed with the Eagles in 2024 and picked up a Super Bowl ring after their resounding victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans, despite finishing the year with just six catches.
The wideout joined the Cowboys last season and only suited up for one game, with his diminished role seemingly leading him to an early retirement two months before his 29th birthday.
‘It’s not easy, but it’s the nature of the business,’ Campbell told The New York Post amid his Giants struggles in 2023.
‘The cliché thing to say is, “You know what you’re getting when you sign up,” which is true. But there’s always things you never thought you’d be doing — and being inactive and not playing is definitely something I never thought would be happening.’
Campbell is yet to officially announce his retirement despite the Cowboys placing him on their reserve/retired list this week.
