NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski has revealed he had ‘visions’ of calling a truce in his tense rivalry with Kyle Busch before late champion’s sudden death last week – and could tell he was struggling with illness in their final meeting.

Busch, a two-time Cup Series champion, died suddenly at the age of 41 on Thursday after suffering from ‘severe pneumonia that progressed into sepsis.’

The racing legend shared a fierce rivalry with Keselowski throughout his NASCAR career. Keselowski even admitted in the aftermath of Busch’s passing that they ‘were not friends’ due to their sporting battles but added that he had great repsect for his fellow driver.

They battled one another in hundreds of races during their decades on the track, sparking many heated moments and controversial incidents.

However, Keselowski has now shared that their final exchange lacked their typical fiery rapport.

‘I was flying to Dover last week with Kyle,’ he told People, and added ‘it was probably more by chance than anything else.’

‘Kyle is normally a fairly gregarious person, very outgoing – and he wasn’t. He sat down one row behind me and next to me and fell asleep right away and I could tell he wasn’t feeling well.

‘I didn’t really think that much of it, to be honest. And that was pretty much the last time I saw him.

‘We were in a race and you get in a race and you don’t really see each other. So I saw him on the racetrack.’

Keselowski continued: ‘I guess I had visions before his death of… actually, I thought about this multiple times: What’s it going to be like when we’re both in the Hall of Fame and we’re doing some kind of ceremony together, whatever that might be? Will the hatchet be buried? I think so.

‘And will we actually be able to share a laugh about it? I guess in my mind, I hope so and now obviously not.

‘The hard part is the closure was supposed to be when we were retired and when we were done racing together and I don’t think that’s just for me, by the way. I think that’s for a lot of people. And to not get that is tough.

‘The loss of Kyle Busch is much greater than how it affects me, and so I don’t wish to belittle that.’

A chilling clip of Busch’s heartbroken widow previously revealing that she would have the NASCAR legend’s baby if he died resurfaced on Monday.

It was recorded six months before Busch, a two-time Cup Series champion, died suddenly last week. He is survived by his wife, Samantha, and their two children, son Brexton, 11, and daughter Lennix, four.

The couple, who welcomed both of their children through in vitro fertilization after struggling to get pregnant and several miscarriages, ran the Bundle of Joy Fund, which attempts to help families remove the financial burden of fertility treatments.

Busch and his wife publicly campaigned to make IVF treatment more accessible for thousands of families across the United States, earning praise from Donald Trump.

And, during an episode of her podcast Certified Oversharer, which aired in November, a haunting clip shows Samantha saying she told Busch she would have another child to ensure there was a ‘connection’ to him if he died.

Samantha told author Ashley George, her guest that day: ‘Here’s something I’ve never told anybody. I’m a certified over-sharer. So a lot of people ask me what we have done with our embryos because we still have some.

‘I can’t part with them. We are paying to freeze them until… they’re going to have to come with me. I don’t know what else to do at this point because I love them so much and can’t make a decision.

‘Kyle was like, “We’re done having kids” and I said, “But what if?” I told him the most morbid story the other day. I was like, “What if you passed? I would have to have another kid to be connected to you and name that child after you”.

‘He was like, “What is wrong with you?” and I was like, “These are the things I think about Kyle.” I love being a mom and I have never told anybody that until I told you.’
