Enjoy a perfect half-term day out at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery
Looking for things to do this half term?
Head into the heart of Shrewsbury and discover everything on offer at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery (SM&AG).
Located right in the centre of town and easy to reach on foot, by public transport or as part of a day out in town, the Museum is free to visit, making it a great option for families wanting something fun without the cost.
Visitors who wish to leave a donation to support the Museum’s work are very welcome to do so.
Inside, there is plenty to keep curious minds busy. The Museum is packed with hands‑on exhibits you can actually touch, along with puzzles, games and activities dotted throughout the galleries.
Children can step back in time by trying on a Roman soldier’s helmet or medieval hats, and families can explore the Museum together using fun trails to follow, helping bring Shropshire’s stories to life.
Whilst exploring the museum check out some of the wonderful exhibitions, including the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition; you don’t need to book for this, just buy a ticket on arrival.
After exploring the galleries, families can relax in the Museum café, which is known for being welcoming, family‑friendly and great value, with plenty of options for children alongside teas, coffees and delicious brunch options.
Cllr Alex Wagner Shropshire Council’s portfolio holder for culture said:
