The National Television Awards (NTAs) have unveiled their long-list of nominations for this year’s ceremony, introducing a brand new category that acknowledges the burgeoning popularity of celebrity-focused programming.

The inaugural Reality Docuseries award will see shows starring Tyson Fury, Gordon Ramsay, Vinnie Jones, and Danny Dyer vie for the prize.

This new category, recognising the rise of fly-on-the-wall celebrity-led series, joins the established Reality Competition category. This year, the latter features nominations for both The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors, alongside I’m A Celebrity… South Africa, Big Brother, Love Island, and The Apprentice.

In the highly anticipated best TV presenter category, Alan Carr is set to compete against Ant and Dec, Alison Hammond, Claudia Winkleman, and Sir David Attenborough.

Sir David, fresh from celebrating his 100th birthday, also boasts five separate nominations in the Factual Entertainment category for A Gorilla Story: Told By David Attenborough, Wild London, Secret Garden, Kingdom, and Parenthood.

These programmes are up against Louis Theroux’s Inside The Manosphere and The Reluctant Traveller with Eugene Levy, which notably featured exclusive interviews with the Prince of Wales in one of its episodes last year.

The Drama Performance category showcases acclaimed actors such as Dame Emma Thompson for the thriller Down Cemetery Road, Martin Clunes for Power: The Downfall Of Huw Edwards, Tom Hiddleston for The Night Manager, and Brenda Blethyn for A Woman Of Substance.

Meanwhile, the Authored Documentary category features posthumous appearances from Caroline Flack in Caroline Flack: Search For The Truth and Ozzy Osbourne in Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home. Other nominees include Heston: My Life With Bipolar, Molly-Mae: Behind It All, Our Girls: The Southport Families, and Sir Chris Hoy: Cancer, Courage And Me.

Comedy nominations include Amandaland, Here We Go, Small Prophets, Alan Carr’s Changing Ends, Last One Laughing, and Saturday Night Live UK. Alan Carr’s versatility is further highlighted by his nominations in the Quiz Show section for Alan Carr’s Picture Slam, competing against Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win, Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel, Pointless, and The 1% Club.

He also features in the Talent Show list for Interior Design Masters With Alan Carr, up against formidable contenders including Strictly Come Dancing, The Great British Bake Off, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, MasterChef, and Britain’s Got Talent.

Britain’s beloved serial dramas – Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, and Home and Away – are all nominated in their respective category.

Actors including EastEnders’ Paul Bradley, Emmerdale’s Jeff Hordley, and Coronation Street’s Gareth Pierce will vie for the Serial Drama Performance award.

Specific nominees in the new Reality Docuseries category include At Home With The Furys, Being Gordon Ramsay, Clarkson’s Farm, Raising Chelsea, Stacey & Joe, The Dyers’ Caravan Park, and Vinnie Jones In The Country.

Further categories include New Drama, Returning Drama, Daytime, and The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award, with The Assembly, The Claudia Winkleman Show, The Masked Singer, The Graham Norton Show, and Gladiators all in the running for the latter.

Joel Dommett is set to host the ceremony for the sixth time, which will take place on 8 September at The O2 London and be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX.

Now in its 31st year, the public can cast their votes for their preferred winners in each category by visiting www.nationaltvawards.com.

The deadline for votes is 29 May, with the shortlist revealed in August when the final round of voting commences.
