Funding and training for women innovators

Innovate UK has opened applications for the ICURe Discover Sprint for Women Entrepreneurs. The programme supports women researchers to explore how their ideas could be developed into commercial opportunities.

It is designed as a shorter, intensive version of the ICURe Discover programme, helping participants build skills in innovation and market discovery.

What the programme offers

The three-week programme starts on 30 June 2026 and includes

  • up to £2,500 to test ideas and explore market demand
  • a two-day in-person bootcamp in London
  • training on customer discovery and commercial viability
  • access to expert mentors, entrepreneurs and investors
  • tools such as the Value Proposition Canvas to assess market fit
  • a final presentation to a panel of experts

Participants are expected to complete around 75 hours of activity over the three weeks.

Who should apply

The programme is open to women researchers based at UK universities or eligible research organisations.

It may be particularly useful if you

  • have an early-stage idea or innovation to explore
  • want to understand the commercial potential of your research
  • have limited time and need a more intensive format
  • are interested in applying for further ICURe funding

Completing the Discover Sprint meets the entry requirement for the ICURe Explore programme. This offers up to £35,000 in grant funding for further market research and development.

Applications close at 1159pm on 1 June 2026.

Find out more and apply online via the Innovate UK website.

For further information, contact the ICURe team.
