Donald Trump’s second-eldest son, Eric Trump, has celebrated the new gold logo for Palm Beach International Airport after it was renamed to honor the president.

Eric said he was “extremely proud” to share the official logo for the newly rebranded Donald J. Trump International Airport in an X post Tuesday afternoon.

The logo is similar to the presidential seal, but in Trump fashion, it’s covered in gold. There appears to be an eagle holding a shield and two olive branches. Underneath the gold-colored eagle is the airport’s name in black writing, and there are also gold stars throughout the logo.

“There is no person more deserving of this incredible honor than [Trump],” Eric said. “Congratulations Dad! Looking forward to seeing flights landing at ‘DJT’ very very soon!”

The new logo was accepted as part of a trademark deal that Palm Beach County commissioners narrowly approved Tuesday. The deal opens the door for Trump’s businesses to sell branded items in connection with the airport.

In late March, Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill passed by state lawmakers to rename the Palm Beach airport after the president.

Trump’s private company that manages the president’s likeness, DTTM Operations LLC, sought a trademark for the new airport name, which county officials authorized in a 4-3 vote Tuesday.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy called the airport’s new name “a perfect tribute to[Trump], a Commander-in-Chief who is MODERNIZING our skies and making FLYING GREAT AGAIN” in an X post.

California Governor Gavin Newsom, a political rival of Trump known for trolling the president online, wasn’t impressed.

“Gas prices are up over 50 percent since your dad started a reckless war in Iran. But congrats on the airport logo. Huge accomplishment!” his press office wrote on X in response to Eric’s post.

Trump is originally from New York, but has made Florida his home in recent years. He bought his sprawling Mar-a-Lago estate in 1985, and in 2019, he made it his primary residence, The New York Times previously reported.

The president takes frequent trips from Washington, D.C. to Palm Beach. He last took a trip home over the weekend.

During his first presidency and so far in his second term, Trump has made more than 60 visits to Palm Beach in his off time, according to The Palm Beach Post.

DTTM Operations LLC’s trademark application requested “Donald J. Trump International Airport” to be used on items such as clothing, luggage, pet carriers, watches, clocks and jewelry.

The Trump Organization, a luxury real estate company run by Eric and his brother Donald Trump Jr., said in a statement published by The NYT in February that “the president and his family will not receive any royalty, licensing fee or financial consideration whatsoever from the proposed airport renaming.”

Rather, the Trump family wanted “to protect the name for Palm Beach County and the state of Florida, thus preventing bad actors from infringing upon or misusing the name.”

While a person familiar with the matter told The NYT that the Trump Organization had no intentions to make money off merchandise sold inside the airport, it’s unclear whether it would sell branded items off-site.

The airport’s renaming is expected to cost up to $5.5 million, news site The Center Square reported in March, citing a local funding initiative request filed to the state Senate.
