Fresh off his historic second Masters victory, Rory McIlroy was granted another prestigious honor as he was lauded by Donald Trump on Tuesday night.

The golfing superstar, 36, and his wife Erica Stoll were among the A-list guests invited to the glitzy State Dinner in honor of King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted by President Donald Trump at the White House.

The Northern Irishman attended the exclusive gathering, despite skipping the PGA Tour’s event at the president’s Trump National Doral in Miami this week.

McIlroy’s invitation to the prestigious event comes less than a month after he captured his second-straight victory at Augusta National.

And President Trump interrupted his speech to hail the golfer on his latest ‘unconquerable’ achievement.

‘The entire world has been uplifted by this distinct and special character we share. This unstoppable daring. This unconquerable courage. It really is unconquerable… speaking of that, where’s Rory McIlroy?’ Trump questioned, part way through his address.

‘Stand up, Rory. That was unconquerable courage. That was very good, Rory.’

McIlroy claimed his second consecutive Masters victory at Augusta earlier this month

Yet, the six-time major winner’s surprise appearance at the White House sparked fury from liberal golf fans as many branded his decision to attend ‘disappointing.’

‘WTF? Rory McIlroy? After all the shit MAGAT Trumpers gave Rory and his wife at the Ryder Cup?’ one questioned on social media, referring to the verbal abuse the European team and their loved ones endured from American fans during last year’s Ryder Cup.

‘Rory wtf,’ another stunned supporter wrote, while a third claimed it was ‘very disappointing,’ as the weighed in.

He sealed a one-shot victory over World No 1 Scottie Scheffler to claim his second green jacket and become the first player since Tiger Woods in 2002 to go back-to-back at the Masters.

Following the triumph, Trump had been the one to lead the tributes to McIlroy, praising his resilience in a post on Truth Social.

Trump wrote: ‘Congratulations to Rory McIlroy on another Great Championship, The Masters! He performed tremendously under intense pressure, something which few people would be able to even think about doing.

‘With each year, Rory is becoming more and more a LEGEND! I look forward to watching him compete in two weeks at Doral. The quality of Professional Golfers today has become extraordinary, each and every one of them.

‘They should all be proud of the way they played at The Masters this weekend!’

Yet, while McIlroy’s accolades were lauded in the United States, they may not be as well-received back in the United Kingdom.

McIlroy, who represents the Republic of Ireland on the Olympic Stage, was snubbed from the New Year’s Honours list last year, despite his 2025 Masters triumph.

As per Telegraph Sport, McIlroy’s snubbing may have stemmed from a historic investment in a scheme which HM Revenue & Customs deemed to be tax avoidance, in a similar manner to the ‘red flag’ which saw Sir David Beckham repeatedly kept off the list until the England legend received his knighthood last year.

It remains to be seen if, following his second Masters victory, he will make the cut this year.

Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez were also captured walking into the White House on Tuesday evening – with Sanchez wearing a plunging black ballgown.

Sam Altman, who is currently in a court battle with former Department of Government Efficiency leader Elon Musk, was also photographed walking through White House security.

Several conservative media personalities, including Ainsley Earhardt, Laura Ingraham, Chris Ruddy, Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfeld, also made the guest list.

All three of Trump’s Supreme Court appointees made the guest list – Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh – along with conservative Justice Samuel Alito, a Bush 43 appointee.

Trump family members included Eric Trump and wife Lara, Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner and Tiffany Trump with her husband Michael Boulos.

Melania’s father, Victor Knavs, was also invited.

Attendees will be treated to a four-course meal starting with hearts of palm salad, served with a garden herb velouté, crisp toasted shallots and a ‘whisper’ of micro mint, the White House said.

After that, spring herb ravioli, featuring herbs from the White House Kitchen Garden – planted by First Lady Michelle Obama – will be served, filled with creamy ricotta, earthy morels and dressed with a light parmesan emulsion.

The main course is fish – Dover sole meunière, prepared in nutty brown butter and served with spring ramps, sweet snow peas over potatoes pavé and finished with parsley oil.

For dessert, the White House chose to showcase the on-campus beehive that the King and Queen visited on Monday, serving guests a beehive-shaped chocolate gâteau with vanilla bean crémeux custard, set inside with an almond joconde.

The cake will be served with crème fraîche ice cream and the White House’s honey.
