Park Yoga is a national charity delivering free outdoor community yoga in nature in 60+ towns and cities across England on Sunday mornings. In the Shropshire the sessions are being supported by Shropshire Council, The 4 All Foundation and Energize Shropshire Telford and Wrekin.

It aims to bring communities together to meet new people and practice yoga in an inclusive and relaxing environment.

You don’t need any previous yoga experience or knowledge to join in as the classes are beginners-level and suitable to people of all ages and abilities.

Cathi Farrer-Mitchel, director of Park Yoga, said:

“As a charity we want Park Yoga to be as accessible as possible, there’s no need to book and it’s free to attend.

“Last year 31% of our participants had never done yoga before, so you won’t be alone if you’re new to yoga.

“You don’t need any specific equipment, just a yoga mat if you have one, but if not a blanket or towel works perfectly.

“Come along and give it a go, you won’t regret it!”

Park Yoga is supported by Yogi Tea who will be giving out tea samples of some of their 50+blends of herbal tea during the summer.

Irene Ippolito, brand director for Yogi Tea at Euro Food Brands, said:

“I’m truly delighted about our new partnership between Yogi and Park Yoga—two organisations united by shared values of mindfulness, wellbeing, and community.

“It’s a privilege to support Park Yoga, a remarkable charity making yoga freely accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. Together, we’re creating space for individuals connect to themselves and their communities.”

Cllr James Owen, portfolio holder for leisure and housing, said:

“It’s great to see Park Yoga come to Shropshire and to Market Drayton in particular. This is a great, free activity that gets people involved with no equipment required. With this being the first time Park Yoga has been delivered in Shropshire, I really hope the people of Market Drayton and its surrounding areas can take full advantage of the sessions throughout the summer.”

George Hounsell, director of operations at the 4 All Foundation said:

“Park Yoga Market Drayton takes place at The Zone. There’s plenty of parking and a café onsite so you can enjoy a brew after the session.

While classes will still go ahead in light rain, should the weather be particularly wet, participants will be informed of a class cancellation with at least an hour’s notice via the Park Yoga Market Drayton page on Facebook and the Park Yoga website.

Although it’s free to attend and always will be, participants are able to donate to the charity if they’d like to. Yoga Instructors have contactless donation machines available every Sunday and people can also donate online.”

Cllr Tom Dainty, local member for Market Drayton East and Rural, added:

“I’m delighted to see Market Drayton will be the first recipient of Park Yoga in the county – having people active and keeping moving throughout all stages of life helps to give the town its vibrancy, I really hope these free sessions will help residents enjoy the summer weather we have ahead.”

About Park Yoga

Free Park Yoga runs every Sunday morning, between May and September to improve the health and wellbeing of our participants. The charity works in partnership with local organisations and instructors to bring Park Yoga to local communities, particularly those with residents who are likely to benefit most from the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere of Park Yoga.

Particularly in the current time of financial difficulties, Park Yoga provides a free, inclusive and easily accessible exercise session for people in their communities. It encourages and supports ongoing yoga participation, wellbeing and connection to nature through people’s local parks.

Originating in Dorset in 2017, the charity now delivers free Park Yoga at over 60 venues across England.

In 2025, Park Yoga had a total of 83,034 attendances over 20 weeks, averaging 4,152 people a week and 75 people per venue, per week.

Park Yoga makes a significant difference to participant’s lives with 90% feeling happier after our sessions, 74% reporting an increase in their physical activity and 68% feeling more connected to their community.
