New Orleans Saints’ latest star Jordyn Tyson was overcome with emotion after being selected at No 8 in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Arizona State wide receiver heard his name called inside the top 10 in Pittsburgh on Thursday, and he struggled to hold himself together as he made his way to the stage.

The first man to break down in tears after being picked, he even dropped to the floor for a few moments backstage to regain his composure.

When he was eventually ready to make his way in front of the crowds, he pulled on a Saints cap and hugged NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Speaking to ESPN moments later, he said: ‘I’m just so thankful, so blessed… I’m going to give it my all and that’s all I can do.

‘The Lord said it’s going to be hard, you have to persevere… I promise you you’re so strong.’

The Saints were in dire need of some talent on its offense, with the franchise opting to select Tyson ahead of safety Caleb Downs and edge rusher Rueben Bain, who had both been linked in recent weeks.

Tyson will provide an immediate option for Saints quarterback Tyler Shough, who impressed in his rookie year to take the starting spot in New Orleans.

Before draft night, the Saints receiver room was headlined by Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele and Ja’Lynn Polk.

Earlier in the draft, Fernando Mendoza was selected at No 1 overall by the Raiders, while the Jets took David Bailey second.
