A new train service will run all night between Manchester’s centre and the city’s airport, allowing passengers to stay connected to the terminals all day, every day.

TransPennine Express (TPE) announced it is introducing a new timetable next month with services to run all night to and from Manchester airport.

The eight new services will mean there will be a train roughly every hour between Manchester Picadilly and the airport.

TPE will introduce its new timetable from Sunday, 17 May, with an aim of improving the connectivity for passengers travelling early in the morning or late at night.

Andrew McClements, a director at TPE, said: “Although most of our services are unchanged, we encourage customers to take a moment to check any journeys they make regularly.

“We’re pleased to be introducing services that give customers more choice, added flexibility and an improved overall experience when travelling with us.”

In addition to the new airport services, TPE will also introduce an additional weekday call at Dewsbury on the 8.05am Leeds to Manchester Piccadilly service.

Elsewhere, TPE will also introduce additional services for a month over the summer during the Edinburgh Fringe, with two extra services a day for festival visitors.

The train operator will run additional services from Monday, 3 August until Friday, 4 September alongside its usual timetable to support those returning from a show.

TPE is not the only operator to change its timetable. The National Rail timetable changes twice a year, in May and December.

On 17 May, timetables across the country will be altered, running until 12 December 2026, when it will change once more.
