- Dragons run out of patience after horror 11-match losing streak
Shane Flanagan is set to become the second NRL coach sacked this season, with the St George Illawarra Dragons to announce his fate this morning.
The merger club has announced a media conference for 9:45 AEST where it is expected the axe will fall.
While the Dragons were competitive at times in the club’s 30-12 loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs, the Dragons have reportedly lost patience with the premiership-winning coach.
The Dragons have now notched up 11 consecutive losses dating back to last season and have failed to taste victory in 2026 after seven rounds.
Flanagan will becomes the second coach axed this season after Manly dumped Anthony Seibold last month, replacing him with club legend Kieran Foran.
The writing was on the wall for Dragons supporters when Flanagan admitted during the pre-season that the club did not have the player to compete for the premiership.

‘Of course it puts pressure on. It puts me and the club under pressure,’ Flanagan said in the post-match press conference after the Rabbitohs loss.
‘We’re not winning footy games and I understand that. It’s a business of winning and we’re not winning.
‘I get to work every day and all I can do is do my best to prepare the players the best I can, and if it doesn’t work and they decide to make another decision, well I’ve just got to live with it.’
