President Donald Trump promised a strong military response on Sunday after his vice president emerged from talks in Islamabad without an agreement to end the war with Iran.

The U.S. president was at a UFC match Saturday evening as JD Vance’s talks with the Iranian government, the highest level that face-to-face talks with Iran have reached in years, failed to reach an agreement to end the month-old conflict that has already caused major ripples across the global economy.

On Sunday morning Trump resumed making the dire threats he’d been issuing to Tehran in the lead-up to a ceasefire deal inked Monday evening, which was supposed to last two weeks. The U.S. president claimed that American military forces would begin blockading the Strait of Hormuz and refusing free passage to any ship that pays a toll to Iran’s government to travel the strait’s waters.

“So, there you have it, the meeting went well, most points were agreed to, but the only point that really mattered, NUCLEAR, was not. Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz,” wrote Trump.
