Liverpool travel to France for their first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie as they take on Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.

Arne Slot’s side only have the Champions League left to compete for having been eliminated from the FA Cup last weekend in an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Manchester City. The Reds also sit fifth in the Premier League table and are five points outside the top four meaning a strong run in Europe would boost their chances of competing in this competition next year.

Liverpool overcame a first leg defeat to Galatasaray in the last-16 to advance 4-1 on aggregate but Slot’s team haven’t progressed since their summer overhaul and are still struggling to define their identity under the Dutchman leaving PSG as the favourites in this encounter.

The French champions are unbeaten in four games and swept Chelsea aside in the previous round having won 5-2 at home before taking a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge as well. Will they dump out a second English opponent in as many rounds tonight?

Here’s everything you need to know about this Champions League clash:

When is PSG v Liverpool?

The Champions League first leg between Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool is at 8pm BST on Wednesday 8 April at the Parc des Princes in Paris, France.

How can I watch it?

Viewers in the UK can watch the match on TNT Sports 1 with coverage starting at 7pm BST. It will also be streamed on HBO Max.

What is the team news?

PSG’s Bradley Barcola is set to miss this leg and there are slight doubts over forward Ousmane Dembele who has been playing with a minor calf injury.

Arne Slot will not be able to call upon No.1 goalkeeper Alisson who isn’t fit to play but the squad looks strong elsewhere with Alexander Isak possibly making a return after his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Predicted line-ups

PSG XI: Safonov; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Neves; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia

Liverpool XI: Mamardashvili; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Ekitike
