Alex, play ‘2 Become 1’ by the Spice Girls.

Besides just being a banger, I thought of this song because I thought it related to recent events in Arsenal’s season.

You know, they were battling on all four fronts, but now they are only battling on two. Get it?

Football is a funny old game. Things can change in an instant.

And well, the Gunners have found that out the hard way. A Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City, before being stunned in the FA Cup by Championship Southampton.

I don’t think anybody saw both of those results coming, certainly not the second one on the south coast, at least. But that’s why we love this game, and why it’s so hard to be such a dominant force within it.

Let’s be real, though, nobody truly thought that Arsenal would win teh quadruple this season, surely. I mean, if you did, then I’m not too sure if you have watched this sport in seasons gone by.

We can’t get too carried away in the other direction, though. Arsenal’s season isn’t suddenly falling apart. They are still destined to win the Premier League and have a very good shot at winning the Champions League.

Get the job done in Lisbon tonight, and they will be one game away from the final four in this competition.

A double is still achievable, and the fight to secure it starts tonight.
