A Coronation Street icon has shared a heartfelt update on her breast cancer diagnosis.

Beverley Callard, 69, who played Rovers Return bartender Liz McDonald for three decades on the ITV soap, revealed her diagnosis earlier this year.

Posting an update on Friday (3 April), the actress explained that she had been waiting for the results of her first operation which would indicate whether she was cancer-free.

But she revealed that just before the start of the Easter weekend, she could no longer “paint a smile on [her] face” after a nurse called to tell her they had “no results yet” due to a backlog.

It comes after the star issued an update following surgery.
